Anxiety can be really tough. It can affect us physically, mentally, and emotionally, and make us feel like everything is falling apart. This feeling can be centered in different parts of our body, depending on our personal experiences. However, after even just one session of our anger management group or one individual session, people report feeling that things have improved, that they feel more in control of their thoughts and actions, and are less easily upset.

When people experience too much anxiety they often experience some or most of the following:

  • Headaches, often in the forehead or temples,
  • dry mouth,
  • Tension in the chest, shoulders and neck.
  • Clenching of the jaw,
  • Itchy body, heart beating faster and stronger,
  • Breathing becomes more shallow, or unwittingly holding the breath between breaths,
  • Nausea,
  • Nail biting, fidgety,
  • Frequent urination or diarrhea, stomach discomfort/pain
  • Tense or “anxious” legs and fidgety feet
  • Racing thoughts
  • Thinking people are judging
  • Trouble getting to sleep, or staying asleep

Anxiety can affect how we breathe. It makes our body think we’re in danger, even if we’re not. Our ancestors needed anxiety to stay safe, but we don’t have to worry about the same things they did. Sometimes, anxiety can make us feel sad, angry, or frustrated. We can help you change your relationship with anxiety at Moose Anger Management.

Anxiety can change how we think, feel, and act. It’s different from fear because it’s not a response to immediate danger. Everyone has some anxiety, but when it’s too strong, it can get in the way of enjoying life. Addressing anxiety helps us be true to ourselves and our values.

Stress and anxiety can come from different situations and experiences in our lives. Everyone’s relationship with anxiety is unique. We work with people to understand their anxiety and to find ways to grow from it with compassion and curiosity.
